Sydney's Strand Arcade has won a global award for its We Are The Makers campaign.

The centre has taken out the top marketing award at this year's International Count of Shopping Centres (ICSC) Global RECON Awards.

It is the first Australian operator to take out the coveted prize.

The annual awards program showcases the retail real estate industry’s most cutting-edge properties, innovative solutions and creative responses to market trends.

Strand Arcade also scored top honours at last year's ICSC Asia Pacific Marketing Awards in Singapore.

We Are The Makers consists of a film and photographic series, highlighting unique personalities behind the Strand’s distinctive curation of stores.

Talents include Dion Lee and milliner Robert Carroll of Strand Hatters.

The initiative was implemented over a 12-month period and position the centre as a destination for craftsmanship and artistry.
