Fast Retailing – the overarching group behind Uniqlo – has reported a 30.7 per cent sales jump across its South Korea and Southeast Asia, India and Australia operations in the 2026 financial year to August 31, with combined sales hitting ¥809.4 billion (~A$7.32 billion).

Uniqlo currently operates 40 stores in Australia, with the Southeast Asia, India and Australia segment covering 411 stores. The Philippines is the largest sub-segment, with 80 stores in the market. India currently operates 20 stores.

In South Korea, Uniqlo has 129 stores.

Uniqlo also reported a combined business profit of ¥168.3 billion across South Korea and the Southeast Asia, India and Australia region, up 44 per cent year-on-year.

The lift in sales and profit in the region joined a total consolidated revenue lift of 16.6 per cent for Fast Retailing – which also includes its GU business. Total group revenue for FY26 hit ¥3.9633 trillion, or around A$35.86 billion. Total business profit hit ¥718.4 billion, a 30.4 per cent increase.

Both South Korea and the Southeast Asia, India and Australia region posted double-digit revenue and profit growth. The group attributed the Southeast Asia, India and Australia result to improved product ranges and sales planning.

Profit before income taxes rose 23.4 per cent to ¥802.5 billion for Fast Retailing, while profit attributable to owners of the parent increased 25.3 per cent to ¥542.5 billion. It was the group’s fifth consecutive year of record results.

The broader Uniqlo International segment lifted revenue 26.2 per cent to ¥2.4111 trillion, with business profit up 44.1 per cent to ¥439.8 billion. Its business profit margin improved in every region.

Western markets drove much of that growth. Uniqlo North America’s revenue rose 34.6 per cent to ¥364.9 billion and its business profit rose 53.3 per cent to ¥67.9 billion. Uniqlo Europe’s revenue rose 38.7 per cent to ¥512.6 billion and its business profit rose 69 per cent to ¥91.7 billion.

For the first time, North America and Europe’s combined sales exceeded both Greater China’s and those of South Korea and the Southeast Asia, India and Australia region. The group credited flagship store openings and new on-trend products, including Barrel Pants and sweatshirts, for the growth.

Greater China revenue rose 11.3 per cent to ¥724 billion, with business profit up 24.6 per cent to ¥112 billion. In local currency terms, Mainland China revenue grew around 3 per cent and business profit roughly 18 per cent, as the group continued structural reforms in that market.

In its home market, Uniqlo Japan revenue rose 5.7 per cent to ¥1.0848 trillion and business profit rose 8.1 per cent to ¥196 billion. Same-store sales grew 5.1 per cent, led by functional ranges such as Ultra Stretch Pants and UV Protection items, as well as Barrel Pants.

For FY27, Fast Retailing forecasts revenue to rise 12.3 per cent to ¥4.45 trillion, business profit to rise 15.5 per cent to ¥830 billion, and profit attributable to owners of the parent to rise 3.2 per cent to ¥560 billion. It expects its key regions – including Southeast Asia, India and Australia – to each deliver double-digit revenue and profit growth.

The group forecasts 3,545 stores by the end of August 2027, including 1,752 Uniqlo International stores.
