Australian brand Swanky Socks has signed a multi-year partnership with international football icon and Sydney FC player Douglas Costa, launching an exclusive sock collection.
The Swanky Socks x Douglas Costa Collection marks a major milestone as the brand plans to drive its global retail expansion.
Throughout his impressive career, Costa has secured 22 major trophies, establishing himself as one of the sport’s most dynamic and stylish athletes.
The sock brand was founded in 2015 by Tom Lawrence. Swanky Socks was then supported by entrepreneur Dorry Kordahi during the Chivas Regal Venture pitch, and he has since acquired the brand to help scale it up from a $40,000 start up.
Swanky Socks initially started with a B2B strategy, with brands engaging them to design exclusive ranges. According to the brand, it has sold more than 2.5 million pairs globally.
Kordahi, who is now executive director of Swanky Socks, said the partnership with Douglas Costa represents more than a collaboration. “It’s a symbol of where Swanky Socks is heading,” he said.
"Our vision has always been clear—to build a globally recognised sock brand that's rooted in Australian values and inspired by the world. We're now taking a bold step into new markets, and partnering with someone like Douglas is a huge part of helping us bring that vision to life.
“His influence and story align with us, one of resilience, creativity, and global influence—those values align perfectly with Swanky Socks and where we’re heading”
Douglas Costa is currently on the Sydney FC team following a soccer career growth in covering his home country of Brazil, playing in the World Cup, then Juventus, Bayern Munich, LA Galaxy and now Sydney FC. His influence includes six million Instagram followers.
“Working with Swanky Socks felt natural from the start”, Costa said.
“I’ve seen Dorry’s vision for the brand and loved the direction he is taking it, which gave me the belief this was the right move. I’m proud to collaborate and be part of this exciting stage, launching a collection that speaks to both athletes and trendsetters around the world.
“This isn’t just about socks. It’s about setting new standards for performance and making a statement with what you wear.”
