Shipping and fulfillment platform Temando has released its latest fashion report unearthing findings from Australian consumers and retailers.

The report surveyed 985 consumers and 212 fashion retailers on shipping, returns and tracking services.

It revealed that 62% of Australians regularly purchase clothing and accessories online with 21% doing half of their shopping on international sites.

It also detailed that only 48% of local retailers offer customers shipping options and only half clothing and accessories retailers offer click and collect options despite 78% of respondents in demand of the service.

In terms of tracking, the report unearthed disparities between services offered by businesses and consumer demands.

Just 55% of Australian fashion retailers offer visibility of expected shipping date with 94% of customers expecting the service.

In addition 64% of businesses will provide email communication throughout the shipping process with 93% of customers flagging this as a need and only 21% of retailers allow the option to make changes to shipping while goods are in transit when 64% of consumers demand the service.

Returns services do offer some good news for consumers and retailers alike.

While 70% of customers prefer the option of returning goods via mail, most businesses allow this method at 64%.

Although, while 62% of online shops offer returns in-store, only 29% of respondents valued this as a desirable.
