Retailers will be able to receive free advice on online selling at an upcoming e-tail seminar to be held by the Australian Retailers Association.
The e-tail seminar is a joint initiative with the Australian Sporting Goods Association and GS1 Australia – the only organisation authorised to administer GS1 barcode numbers in Australia.
Set to take place on Wednesday, August 17, the seminar will cover hot topics in the online shopping industry, including stock control, order fulfilment and back-end procedures in the web environment.
It will also include a special feature by GS1 Australia staff on product identification, barcoding, procurement to payment and reverse logistics.
The seminar comes just as the Productivity Commission releases it's report on the retail industry, underlining a need for more Australian businesses to move online.
The report flags Australian businesses as “lagging” behind their overseas counterparts when it comes to embracing internet shopping, with a “lack of understanding” of how e-commerce works sited as a key barrier to more retailers moving online.
The increasing popularity of online shopping continues to be a major issue for retailers today, with online sales expected to surge from $13.6 billion to $21.7 billion by 2015.
