Platypus will become the first Australian footwear retailer to offer same day delivery, with the new service set to launch next week.
Accent Group chief digital officer Mark Teperson said the service was created out of a desire to meet the needs of a younger generation of consumers, who increasingly expect instant gratification as part of the shopping experience.
“When Gen Z and Millennials see something they like, they want it now – not tomorrow, not next week. This has been a growing trend over the last few years, and Platypus prides itself on not only listening to what customers want, but actually delivering on it before anyone else.”
Using “any means necessary,” including skateboards, fixie bikes and Ubers, Platypus delivery team members will even wear GoPros for the first week - filming delivery runs and posting the footage online for customers to view.
Customers who use same day delivery during launch week will also have the chance to win prizes, with a range of gifts added to select orders.
