Amazon Australia has expanded its free one-day delivery initiative for Prime members in Brisbane, Geelong, Gosford, Newcastle and Wollongong.

This is in addition to its initial rollout in Sydney and Melbourne.

This service is available on eligible orders for no minimum spend, to order as late as midnight for next day delivery. More than a million products across various categories are eligible for the scheme.

Prime is Amazon’s global membership program.

“When customers shop online, they want to know they are getting a great price and that their order will be delivered to them fast, with no additional costs,” Amazon Australia director and country leader Matthew Benham said.

“Prime members in most areas of Sydney and Melbourne have already been enjoying this service and we are thrilled to be able to offer Prime members in these additional locations access to the service.”

Amazon Australia is also preparing to expand product selection and delivery areas eligible for its ‘Prime FREE One-Day Delivery’. Amazon Australia now has six fulfilment centres, including a facility in Lytton, Brisbane which is the same size as two Rugby League fields and can house more than one and a half a million items.

“We are able to offer customers fast delivery speed as a result of our continuing investment and expansion into our operations in Australia,” Benham said.

“By building fulfilment centres and delivery stations close to where our customers live and work, packages travel shorter distances, which enables us to speed up delivery.”

Since 2011, Amazon has invested more than A$15 billion across all of its businesses in Australia, including more than A$5 billion in 2022 alone.

Amazon’s delivery capacity increased by almost 50% in 2023 and Amazon added 600 permanent roles to its operations network.
