Amazon Australia is set to onboard more than 1000 seasonal workers for the upcoming festive season.
With the industry fast approaching the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales events and the Christmas trading season, Amazon is set to recruit workers with a range of experience and skill levels to help pick, pack and ship orders over the festive season.
The hiring drive comes as a Roy Morgan and Australian Retailers Association survey shows that 48% of Aussies are going to buy their Christmas presents online, with 58% indicating that they're going to purchase more or significantly more items online than they did last year.
It also follows a number of employment initiatives Amazon has rolled out this year, including the creation of more than 600 new permanent roles at Amazon sites in 2021.
Amazon Australia director of operations Craig Fuller said the business was proud to offer more jobs for Aussies during this challenging employment period.
"We are pleased to offer job opportunities across the country at a time when they are needed most.
"There are opportunities for motivated, enthusiastic people from all backgrounds and we look forward to welcoming them to our sites around Australia as we head into the holiday period," he said.
Amazon has five fulfilment centres and 12 Amazon Logistics sites operating in Australia, with sites in Sydney, Newcastle, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
Across the country, Amazon will offer around 400 jobs in Sydney, 600 in Melbourne and 100 in Brisbane.
The seasonal positions can present further employment opportunities with Amazon.
Amazon offers customers a selection of more than 125 million items across 31 categories.
