Amazon Australia has launched a new pre-owned and open-box items storefront, Amazon Warehouse.

The site will offer discounted pre-owned and open-box items across 30 categories including apparel, electronics, home improvement, kitchen, books, music and toys.

Each of the items listed on Amazon Warehouse are directly fulfilled and quality checked by Amazon, with the products falling into one of four categories: 'Like New,' 'Very Good', 'Good', and 'Acceptable'.

The quality rating of the products determines the level of discount available on the item.

Amazon Australia country manager Matt Furlong said the launch of the storefront will give Aussies access to a wider range of products.

"Items are returned to Amazon for many reasons – sometimes a product is just not what a customer is looking for, or perhaps there’s a cosmetic defect or the packaging is damaged.

"These items can’t then be sold as new but are still great quality and in good working condition.

"Amazon Warehouse gives these products a new lease on life and offers customers an even wider selection to choose from," he said.

The launch sees Amazon enter the second-hand goods market in Australia, which is estimated to be worth $46 billion.*

The launch of Amazon Warehouse adds thousands of discounted items to the more than 125 million products on the Amazon Australia website.
