New Zealand-born footwear brand Allbirds has expanded into the performance category with its latest shoe, The Dasher.
Utilising natural materials such as sugarcane, renewable eucalyptus and merino wool, the shoe provides runners with a sustainable choice when it comes to running footwear.
The Dasher has been biomechanically tested on thousands of miles by over 50 amateur and professional athletes and is built both for grocery runs and marathons.
In a statement, Allbirds said that it was time to introduce a natural alternative to the athletic footwear category.
"In a race for speed, the athletic footwear industry has been playing the wrong game.
"What if “win at all costs” meant “losing for a price”?
"What if instead of prioritising oil-based plastics that linger in landfills and spill into oceans, we harnessed nature’s renewable properties?
"We dipped back into nature’s laboratory to create a running shoe powered by the sun, rain and soil."
The Dasher is available now on the Allbirds website and retails for $225.
