Specsavers and Alex Perry have set their sights on exploring new sustainable styles as part of the next phase of their partnership, Alex Perry has told Ragtrader.

This week, the fashion designer and eyewear business celebrated 10 years in partnership together, marking the milestone with the release of a new collection.

Sitting down with Ragtrader to talk through the partnership, Perry said that alongside the sustainable styles, he also has his sights set on new fashion-forward styles.

"We've just done some great new shapes and we're also working on different materials to make the glasses, and other products that are associated with them, more sustainable.

"I'm going to keep pushing my agenda for mirrored sunglasses and gradated lenses," he added.

The push in the sustainable space comes after Specsavers launched its first range of glasses made with recycled plastic bottles and bio-based materials in October last year.

When it comes to looking back on the highlight styles from the decade-long partnership, Perry said the styles that remain in his mind are among the first collection of eyewear he did with Specsavers.

"The first ones are a highlight because people are still wearing them.

"I remember, back then we did a style which had what was quite a sizable crystal that's just 'bang' on the temple.

"The glass itself it was a little bit outrageous when we did it then but it's still there and it's still one of those ones that people are buying.

"We also did a big 'Jackie O' -style pair of sunglasses that have got an enamelled leopard skin print.

"When we're doing it I thought, 'it'll either be great and people will love it or it'll be too much for them.'

"But again, that was one of those ones that really worked," he said.

The new Alex Perry x Specsavers collection is available now.
