The Australian arm of German-based global supermarket chain Aldi will release its first-ever own branded streetwear collection on Saturday, April 13.

Titled ‘ALDImania’, the range includes sweatshirts, hoodies, trackpants, t-shirts, slides, sneakers, socks, a bucket hat, a cap and two styles of beanies - with prices ranging from $4.99 to $19.99.

The range also includes lifestyle products such as a compact umbrella and a mug.

Aldi Australia’s buying director for fashion, Belinda Grice said the supermarket has been selling its own loungewear for years.

“But this is the first time we’ve brought our own brand of leisurewear to the middle aisles,” Grice said.

“Designed to celebrate and champion our shoppers, this new range is made specifically with Aldi budgets in mind, without compromising on quality or comfort.

“This unique collection that contains sustainably sourced or recycled materials, has been crafted to create a mix-and-match aesthetic, so customers can inject their own sense of styling around the range.”

To mark the release, Aldi Australia will give away five sets via its Facebook group, with the competition opening on April 3.

Globally, the streetwear market is estimated to be worth over $185 billion, according to research firm Strategy&.
