Aje Athletica is set to launch its second collection tomorrow, September 29.

The luxury activewear label will launch Collection 002 as Aje begins the opening of 11 dedicated Athletica boutiques across Australia.

The new collection embodies the considered design details Aje is known for, alongside functional, conscious designs made up of 70% sustainably-sourced materials.

Speaking to Ragtrader in August, Aje co-founder and CEO Adrian Norris said that since the launch of Aje Athletica in May 2021, the brand has sold more in three months than the mainline Aje brand did in 12 months, five years ago.

Norris added that the pandemic has also driven strong demand for active clothing.

"Athleisure was already a mainstay increasingly worn in our leisure time to bridge the gap between home, weekend casual and exercise.

"The last 12 months have blurred the lines of our modern lives even further – from working from home, to reflecting and appreciating the time we spend outdoors.

"It was clear that time spent moving or simply being in nature led to an increased feeling of wellbeing.

"We wanted to speak to this, as we experienced a real consumer-need for function, comfort, style and versatility for seasons to come," he said.

Collection 002 features embossing, recycled fabrications and statement shapes in muted tones such as Sky Blue and Sand.

The collection spans matching co-ordinate sets, skirts, dresses, logo tees, jumpers and wellness accessories.

Speaking on the design, Aje creative director Edwina Forest said the brand places the same emphasis on fashion and performance elements.

"Whilst Aje Athletica draws on the design foundations and sensibilities of the Aje brand, Aje Athletica infuses a spectrum of performance-based considerations into each style, and considers sustainability at each step.

"All fabrications, for example, have a four-way technical stretch and the entire collection encompasses 70% consciously sourced materials.

"Igniting the design process, Adrian and I were committed to creating a comprehensive athleticwear wardrobe to suit the needs of contemporary women by delivering fashion-led athleisurewear with performance as a principle focus.

"We felt this was deserving not only of time but also of space, hence the desire to create standalone Aje Athletica wellbeing sanctuaries.

"The two brands however will always be inextricably linked as their handwriting is one in the same," she said.

The new Aje Athletica collection will launch on September 29 and will retail for between $25 to $275.
