Entrepreneurial duo Danny and Dorry Kordahi are set to launch their latest venture – a Zambelli and Akubra flagship store in Balmain.
The Kordahis purchased Zambelli from liquidators last year, with Dorry overseeing the creation of a new range of men and women’s clothing.
New patterns and designs were created in Sydney, with products manufactured in Shanghai under Kordahis' DKM Blue business.
The Kordahis said this process affords the brand a unique degree of flexibility, smaller quantities, greater variety and excellent value for money.
The range includes contemporary suiting in Italian wools and silk, ties and accessories.
Meanwhile, Akubra products are designed and produced under a global licensing agreement between the Kordahi’s DKM Blue and Akubra.
As with Zambelli, all items are designed and developed in Sydney.
The range is produced in leather and canvas, with items including a Gladstone travel bag, handbags, iPad covers and wallets.
This venture is a first for the venerable hat maker and allows the brand’s appeal to reach a much wider demographic.
The store will also periodically spotlight other brands including eveningwear by Studebaker, organic urban brand Alchemist and René Dehry.
