Australia’s eyewear market has a new player as global AI eyewear brand Rokid officially launches down under with an exclusive showcase event in Sydney.
This comes as the local eyewear space (predominantly technology-free glasses) had a yearly revenue of US$2.19 billion in 2024, and is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11.8 per cent, meaning revenues could double by 2030.
Rokid is introducing its latest AI and AR (augmented reality) smart glasses technology with Australia, which can allow users to capture hands-free photos and video, access a built-in AI assistant on the go and receive real-time translations across 89 languages with live subtitles.
Held at Art + Gallery in Potts Point, the brand’s Sydney launch event last week was showcased to retailers and partners, as well as media.
Rokid sells globally through online platforms such as Amazon and AliExpress, and is already sold locally through Kogan.com. The brand recently scaled across Europe and Southeast Asia, and is reporting strong momentum in Japan. The company has also seen growing traction in North America, with Rokid products now available in more than 100 countries and regions worldwide.
The company claims its international business has grown by 300 per cent year-on-year.
The brand has already launched a locally dedicated website to buoy its Australian push.
“At Rokid, we believe the next evolution of computing will happen through intelligent wearables that seamlessly integrate into everyday life,” Rokid global GM Zoro Shao said.
“Australia is an important market for us as consumers increasingly look for technology that feels intuitive, immersive and human-centred. This launch represents more than introducing a product – it is about opening a new chapter for AI-powered interaction and spatial computing in the region.”
