Roger David will officially close up shop on Sunday, December 2.

The menswear retailer has marked down new season stock to 70%, as it ends 76 years of trade.

It is understood 500 staff across 57 stores will be affected by the termination.

Administrators for KordaMentha were unable to secure a sale of brand, despite initial interest.

At its peak, Roger David had more than 100 stores, selling suits, other fashion and accessories under the Roger David and RDX brands.

It was established in 1942 and became one of Australia’s best-known clothing brands.

KordaMentha Restructuring administrator Craig Shepard said the brand was unable to continue trade.

“Roger David, like many other fashion retailers, has been buffeted by global competition, stagnant sales and rising fixed costs," Shepard said.
