The newly formed Australian Fashion Chamber, headed by Vogue Australia editor Edwina McCann, is officially open for business.

The Chamber has announced that membership is now open - and with that, a mentoring program.

The triple tier member program includes regular membership, which will be offered exclusively to designers.

Associate membership will be open to individuals in other fashion sectors including media, retailing, creative, textiles and manufacturing.

Emeritus membership to longstanding regular members, as well as honorary membership, will be introduced in the future.

Application details are outlined on www.australianfashionchamber.com.

Mentoring will be a key cornerstone of the membership structure.

The program will offer designer applicants individual and bespoke mentors based on their needs.

Mentors will be drawn from the Chamber's board of directors, as well as individuals who represent industry best practice.

Chairman Edwina McCann said the organisation is delighted to open its doors to the sector.

"Membership will provide Australian designers access to mentoring, networking events, training conferences, seminars and award programs managed by the AFC.

“The goal of the AFC is to bring the industry together to support emerging and established talent, pooling our talents to support theirs.

"We believe that mentoring plays a critical role in development, and with a consistent standard of training and support we can continue building the Australian fashion industry to a greater scale.”

The newly formed organisation has a number of influential directors including Tiffany & Co Oceania managing director Glen Schlehuber and Calvin Klein executive vice-president global communications Malcolm Carfrae.
