Adidas has debuted its new Parley Tennis Collection at the Australian Open.

Featuring a detailed, data-driven map graphic of the Great Barrier Reef, the tennis pieces were created to raise awareness of the impact of plastic pollution on the underwater ecosystem.

Created using Parley Ocean Plastic - upcycled plastic waste which has been intercepted from remote islands, beaches, coastal communities and shorelines - the collection aims to drive conversation and action around the need to protect the Great Barrier Reef from plastic pollution.

The pieces will be worn by tennis players Kristina Mladenovic and Dominic Thiem.

Parley founder and CEO Cyrill Gutsch said that collection is a culmination of key drivers of environmental change.

"Since 2015, we have been on a mutual mission to end the plastic crisis and drive the material revolution we need.

"Collaboration, creativity and eco-innovation are the only ways forward, and it's on all of us to lead by example.

"The Adidas x Parley Tennis Collection is a continuation of this ambition – combining high-performance with eco-innovative design while highlighting the interconnected threats of plastic pollution, climate change and ocean acidification – and the urgency of stopping their destruction of vital underwater ecosystems like the Great Barrier Reef," he said.

The Adidas x Parley collection complements the Primeblue x Heat.Rdy Tennis Collection, which launched earlier this year.

The range is now available on the Adidas website, app and in select retail stores including Chadstone and Emporium.

The Adidas x Parley collection retails for between $60-$100.
