The Australian activewear market is set for a shakeup, with gear that has spent several years in development scheduled for release.

Victorian manufacturing business Supacore has announced the launch of a patented range of compression clothing.

Competing with established brands including Skins and 2XU, Supacore has invested six years of research and development into the compression technology.

Supacore’s patented ‘CORETECH™’ shorts and leggings claim to improve core stability and aid with the recovery of hamstring, lower back and groin related injuries.

The process is reportedly achieved through a unique seamless knitting process that reinforces high stress areas of the lower body particularly focusing on the lower back.

The Sydney Swans have signed an exclusive three year contract with Supacore to supply players with the compression garments to wear during matches, training, recovery and rehabilitation.

Supacore collaborated with seamless knitting pioneer LM to create the compression range.

The idea began when a senior LM designer suffered a broken back in a car accident and was forced to wear a sacroiliac belt to assist in recovery and pain management.

The concept for a new type of supportive seamless garment to replace the sacroiliac belt was born and a prototype was soon developed.

With the positive results of the prototype, a six year development process commenced.
