250 jobs have been retained after the acquisition of a retail chain entering its 80th year in business.

The Beville family has successfully reacquired the 80-year old Bevilles brand, promising a range of measures to return the retailer to stronger times.

The new Bevilles Corp, headed by Michelle Beville, will retain 250 jobs and 16 stores across three states.

The new structure supports Bevilles’ move to smaller, smarter, new-look, jewellery-only format stores which will focus on diamonds and a range of watches and be approximately half the size of previous stores.

New systems and processes will be implemented to streamline operations, improve efficiencies and reduce costs.

Bevilles Corp CEO Michelle Beville said the new direction looks promising.

“The pilot program in Liverpool, NSW and Highpoint, VIC proves that the smaller, smarter, new-look, jewellery-only format is the right strategy for the brand to move forward with.

"The 16 stores that have been retained are best suited to this successful new format.

“It’s great to know that the Bevilles brand will continue and we have the opportunity to realise our strategy and continue to sell beautiful quality jewellery.

“We also acknowledge that while this is a positive outcome for the brand, there are a number of people that will no longer be with us. We wish them all the best as they too have been a big part of the Bevilles brand.”

The new business will roll out its smaller, smarter, new-look, jewellery-only format stores across its network of stores and initiatives are in planning to celebrate the brand’s 80th anniversary this year.
