An iconic fashion trader has been acquired, with its new parent company pulling its retail network and consignments in department store Myer to focus on a new frontier.
Promotional, branding and clothing company DKM Blue has purchased Ambassador Clothing.
Ambassador Clothing was founded in Sydney in 1944 and has introduced a number of brands throughout its 69 year history.
These include Zambelli, Nic Green, Cassini and Ambassador Corporate, which outfitted the NSW Police Force for over 15 years.
Ambassador Clothing entered administration late last year, with Zambelli finding the same fate just a year earlier.
DKM Blue said it plans to "reinvigorate" the company by replacing the 12 retail outlets and consignments in Myer with a significant online presence.
DKM Blue will also diversify Ambassador Corporate to create synergies with its existing corporate uniforms portfolio.
DKM Blue will plans to utilise its supply chains across China, India, Bangladesh and Italy for all brands.
The company said a "focus" on Australian made goods will still be maintained however.
"The amalgamation of DKM Blue’s corporate philosophy and new-world technology with Ambassador’s enviable heritage promises to take both companies to an entirely new level," the company said.
