Stephen Goddard will retire from the Accent Group board of directors at the conclusion of the company’s annual general meeting (AGM) on November 17.

Goddard joined the board as a non-executive director in late 2017. He was the chair of the Audit and Risk Committee from February 2018 and a member of the People and Remuneration Committee from February 2020.

Goddard had signalled his decision to retire from the board earlier this year in order to balance his board and other commitments.

According to Accent Group, the planned appointment of a new independent non-executive director and chair of the Audit and Risk Committee is well progressed, with an announcement expected to be made prior to the upcoming AGM.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time on the Accent Group board during a period of rapid growth and considerable change,” Goddard said. “Accent Group has a high-quality, results-driven management team, and I wish every success to the Board and broader team for the future.”

Chairman David Gorman thanked Goddard for his contribution to the company over the past six years.

“Stephen has been instrumental in ensuring that the Audit and Risk Committee fulfils its obligations in governance and oversight responsibilities,” Gorman said. “Further to this, his experience and measured input to the board on many other areas has been equally invaluable.”
