A local footwear chain with ambitious growth plans has been voted as one of the nation's most consumer focused retail offers by over 50,000 Australians.

Williams Shoes, part of the Fusion Retail Brands stable, has been crowned Shoe Store of the Year at the Roy Morgan annual Customer Satisfaction Awards for the second year running.

Award winners were selected following a study by independent firm Roy Morgan Research, which collected the satisfaction ratings of over 50,000 Australians through its 2012 Consumer Single Source survey.

Williams Shoes was followed by sister brand and fellow Fusion Retail Brands specialty footwear retailer Mathers, which came in at second place in the customer satisfaction ratings.

The Roy Morgan annual Customer Satisfaction Awards were attended by over 500 industry leaders and celebrated success in 37 different categories within the retail sector.

Commenting on the coup for both brands, Fusion Retail Brands CEO Don Grover said it was a spectacular result for Williams Shoes which was competing amongst competent retailers including Betts, Spendless and Athletes Foot.

“They say ‘if the shoe fits, wear it’ and we’re proud that this award cements our focus on exemplary customer service and store experience,” he said.

“The award also offers recognition of the dedication shown by our 976 Williams Shoes employees across the country who are committed to offering above and beyond service.”

Williams Shoes is the oldest shoe retailing chain in Australia and with over 120 stores in regional and metro locations. The brand offers consumer a range of footwear and accessories for men, women and children.

Brands include Lynx, Diana Ferrari, Colorado, C’est Bon, Corelli, Windsor Smith and Portland.
