David Jones' parent company has defied tough retail conditions - with its food division increasing sales by 8.6%.
Woolworths also reported comparable store sales growth of 4.6% for the financial year.
Meanwhile, clothing and general merchandise sales increased by just 1.4%, with comparable stores declining by 0.9%.
Woolworths Group CEO Ian Moir said said food results grew well above the market.
"This reflects our strong commitment to being a highly effective, customer-focused business with a strong portfolio of brands."
David Jones sales over the year increased by 1% in Australian dollar terms, with sales in comparable stores declining 0.7%.
The termination of the Dick Smith electronics concession impacted growth by 1.0%.
Woolworths said growth slowed in the second half as consumer sentiment worsened.
It comes as a $100 million food strategy for David Jones rolls out, with the new foodhall at Bondi Junction already positively received by customers.
