A lingerie retailer has pulled a campaign featuring PVC lingerie and handcuffs after breaching advertising guidelines.

It is fourth time unlucky for Honey Birdette, which has been cleared of similar complaints in the past.

The latest window campaign featured a woman wearing a black lingerie set with matching handcuffs.

Complaints alleged the advertisement was inappropriate for a public shopping centre.

The Advertising Standards Board noted the campaign was more sexualised than previous instalments.

While Honey Birdette was cleared of codes around the portrayal of violence, it breached guidelines on sex and nudity.

The Board noted the window display means it is visible to a broad audience, including children.

"Overall the depiction of a woman in a sexualised pose wearing PVC/leather look lingerie and handcuffs does not treat the issue of sex, sexuality and nudity with sensitivity to the relevant broad audience," the Board ruled.

Honey Birdette has since pulled the display.
