Sportscraft is celebrating 100 years in business - here's five things you didn't know about the Australian fashion retailer.

1. Helmut Newton shot it

Legendary Australian photographer Helmut Newton was commissioned to shoot Sportscraft campaigns in the 1950s and 1960s.

2. It launched with Vogue

Sportscraft was featured in the launch edition of Vogue Australia in both editorial and advertisements.

3. It scored an Aussie first

Sportscraft became the first Australian fashion label to be awarded a “Pure New Wool License” from Woolmark in 1964.

4. It scored Angelica Houston

Since the 1960s, many high-­profile models of the moment have featured in Sportscraft campaigns and in editorial including Angelica Houston, Maggie Tabberer, Jean Shrimpton, Janice Wakely and Kristy Hinz. 

5. It rocked concessions first

Sportscraft was the first Australian fashion label to open a concept ‘shop within a shop’ concession space in Myer in the early 1950s.

Sportscraft is sold in over 220 locations around Australia including freestanding stores, concession stores (David Jones and Myer) and online. Sportscraft is owned by Apparel Group.
