Pre-Easter resurrection: we present the best Australian fashion labels to be reborn this year.
Daniel Avakian
Daniel Avakian bowed out of the sector five years ago to work on private label collections for retailers and private clients. Avakian relaunched his website at the end of 2013 and trialled a capsule collection for autumn/winter 2014. His return to the sector is a full-offer spring/summer 2014/15 range of high-quality, locally manufactured wardrobe staples.
Glomesh
Iconic Australian accessories label Glomesh relaunched after the grandson of its founders, Daniel Goldberg, acquired the intellectual property rights. In March, department store David Jones signed the brand on a department store exclusive, bringing the heritage label back to life after its first outing in 1958.
Ojay
Australian fashion retailer Ojay entered into administration in late 2012, after 30 years of trade. While the last report to creditors noted no sale of business, Ojay has relaunched this year as an online business with one store open to public at its Melbourne headquarters. The new-look Ojay boasts locally-made, limited-edition designs in exclusive prints and patterns.
