Australian fashion designers have just over a month to secure funding of up to $50,000 each, following in the footsteps of Ellery, Dion Lee and Romance Was Born.

Applications for the 2012/13 Textile, Clothing and Footwear (TCF) Small Business Program will close on February 24.

The AusIndusty initiative will offer a total of $2.5 million in strategic grants.

Designer Dion Lee secured $43,110 for an export development program last year.

Other high-profile recipients included Ellery, which scooped $24,600 for a patternmaking system and Romance Was Born, which acquired $34,600 for an e-commerce project.

Businesses must have fewer than 20 employees to be eligible for funding, turnover of more than $100,000 and make a minimum cash contribution to the project of 25 per cent or more.

They must also undertake eligible projects, as defined in application guidelines.

AusIndustry will hold information workshops on the program nationally in the week commencing January 30, 2012.
