Elegant Shed to headline mall
GOLD COAST: New South Wales fashion retailer The Elegant Shed has been signed as the anchor tenancy for a new retail development opening beside the Pacific Motorway at Beenleigh. The $90 million development, dubbed The OC @ Exit 35, will operate as an enclosed mall direct outlet centre and is touted for a March opening. Located on a 5.4 hectare site, the retail project is sited adjacent to the Beenleigh Rum Distillery and Tavern and positioned alongside the M1 used by approximately 775,000 vehicles a week.
Rates in the complex range from $380 to $1500 per square metre. In total there will be 14,000 square metres of retail space with more than 70 outlet shops - 60 of which are expected to be branded fashion outlets - and 800 carparks.
A report in The Courier Mail quoted John Quinn, the managing director of development group Quinn, stating The OC had drawn strong interest from prospective tenants.
"We have held off on finalising any of the smaller tenancies until we know the exact nature of our anchor tenant and now we can proceed to ensure the overall retail mix is highly attractive and more important is complementary."
Individual tenancies range from 60 to 1300 square metres.
