NATIONAL:  Multinational surfwear company Quiksilver is set to team with Sydney designer Sam Elsom to create a unique menswear collection. The limited release range will feature suiting, coats, shirts, organic denim jeans and T-shirts and belts and neckties. Quiksilver men's designer Ryan Scanlon said his company would take responsibility for the manufacturing of the collection however the handcrafted suit and denim styles would be produced by Elsom's own tailors with a limited run of just 300.

With the suits retailing for around $1200, the entire Elsom collection would be distributed for sale internationally via Quiksilver outlets from March.

Fabrications used in the range include horsehair canvas and sustainable organic cotton from India and Pakistan, Scanlon said.

"We're really excited about this collaboration. Sam is renowned for the understated beauty and simplicity he brings to fashion and his dedication to sourcing the highest quality sustainable textiles is unwavering."

Members of Quiksilver's global surf team are expected to be among the first recipients of the suits, debuting them during the Association of Surfing Professionals World Champs in February.
