Here comes the sun
"Can you believe I haven't had a chance to sit down and watch it yet?" Myer director of apparel and cosmetics Judy Coomber could be forgiven for missing her judging debut on reality TV program Project Runway recently. The Melbourne-based executive was busy working a crowd of 500 guests at Myer's spectacular spring/summer 2008 showcase in Sydney late last month.
Staged at Moore Park's Bryon Kennedy Hall, the evening featured collections from top Australian designers including Josh Goot, Yeojin Bae, Leona Edmiston, Toni Maticevski, Jayson Brunsdon, Camilla & Marc and Nevenka. Myer ambassador Jennifer Hawkins was also on hand to model her latest swimwear range for the department store 'Cozi', which will be stocked in 65 Myer stores nationally.
A round, rotating catwalk didn’t shake any of the 50 models enlisted to parade the collections – their balancing act rewarded when a shower of golden confetti erupted at the close of the show.
