MELBOURNE: Apparel company Beyond Sportswear International (BSI) has announced strong results for the 2008 financial year. BSI - which operates a portfolio of brands and licences including the Kea, Kombat, Hummel, Cricket Australia and State of Origin identities - confirmed FY08 operating earnings before income tax (EBIT) had almost tripled to $2.8 million over the period.

A results statement released late yesterday (September 3) said operating highlights included the acquisition of Kea, Kea UK, Kombat, GJK and Frontrow Rugbywear at various points during the period. The company had made significant progress in executing its long term growth strategy, and had also boosted its manufacturing and sourcing capabilities in China as well as rationalising back office capabilities and improving efficiencies.

Future growth opportunities lay in a number of strategies, including increasing sales by cross-selling core product to new segments. Examples of this included driving Hummel sales to schools and clubs, Frontrow rugby jersey sales to clubs and Kombat sales to schools, the statement said.
