NATIONAL: No date has yet been set for the public release of the national textile, clothing and footwear (TCF) review, being undertaken by the Rudd Government. The review committee, headed by Macquarie School of Management dean Professor Roy Green, had been due to report its findings back to the Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research Senator Kim Carr by August 31.
However a spokesman for Carr's office told Ragtrader that while Carr's office had received a copy of the report, they did not have a "fixed date" in which it would be available for public scrutiny.
More than 80 submissions were received by Carr's office including representations from the TCF consulting, retail, manufacturing, educational and research sectors.
Key issues raised in the submissions included funding enhancements, ethical and environmental manufacturing, skills upgrades and tariff reviews.
