MELBOURNE: Childrenswear label Pumpkin Patch is planting fresh branding seeds, with the opening of a new retail outlet in the Victorian capital, following its recent 'Best Fashion Retailer' award win. With the opening this month of Pumpkin Patch's 107th store at Westfield Doncaster shopping centre,  the brand's general manager of Australian retail, Trish Watt, said she saw great opportunities for the brand in the up and coming environs of the centre.

"I enjoyed the fresh and fun vibe from the people in Doncaster and knew that we could offer something a little different with our distinctive designs and progressive style," she said.

Pumpkin Patch was also set to open two NSW outlet centres this month; one in the Entertainment Quarter at Moore Park and one in the The Red Yard in Auburn, she confirmed.

"Our outlet centres will be a fabulous treat for our NSW customers, giving people a chance to find some great bargains."

On June 25 Pumpkin Patch took out the award for "Best Fashion Retailer" in the annual American Express Rewards for Excellence presented by the National Retail Association (NRA). The award criteria encompassed excellence in customer service, visual merchandising and store presentation. Watt described the win as "credible recognition of the passion we have all put into this innovative brand."

"We were up against some tough competition, the likes of Jag, Portmans and Just Jeans. To be recognised by our peers as one of the premier labels in Australian fashion retail is a fantastic honour."
