Easier ways to make a living
More at home on a cricket pitch than a runway, new Bonds ambassador Michael Clarke made his underwear debut on a wintry Wednesday night at Sydney's Gazebo Wine garden recently. Dancers performed hand game the paddycake while Clarke donned hoodies, the "New" tee for the season and branded fit undies popped out from the top his jeans. Pictured enjoying the action is Lizzie Lovett and Laura Csortan.

An evening at the Whitehouse
Odds are the dress sense at the newly opened Melbourne wing of 'the other' Whitehouse will be streets ahead of the Washington US version. The official opening of Melbourne's Whitehouse Institute of Design on July 21 marked the first time Victorian students would have access to the Sydney-based Whitehouse Institute's 20-year teaching heritage. The event was marked with drinks and a colourful runway show at the institute's Bourke Street, Melbourne headquarters.

Building a profile
Recent weeks saw emerging designer launch pad Melbourne Fashion Incubator showcase its first foray into couture, with a catwalk show at Melbourne Central shopping centre on July 23. Dubbed 'Skyline: Incubator Inspired', the show fused fashion and architecture, with each garment conceptualised around landmark Melbourne buildings. Designers featured in the show included Josua Andreas, Ryan Whelan, Fugue, Clube Do Loser, Boski, Omnicron, Joli and special guest designer Jenny Bannister.

Christmas crew
Fine wine, stimulating conversation and a choice of around 100 different characters to speak to helped entice representatives from several Sydney fashion firms to make an appearance at Provident Inventory Finance's mid-winter Christmas party recently. Pictured is the guest of honour - and his merry helpers - along with the evening's host Provident Cashflow's Mathew Nolan.

Perth partying
Perth's Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi and seven of the past faces of the Perth Fashion Festival came together recently to celebrate the launch of the event's 10th instalment. Staged at The Art Gallery of Western Australia, the event boasted an impressive line up of designers keen to celebrate the biggest program in the event's history.

Seduced with Ivy
Youth retailer Seduce celebrated its spring/summer 2008 collection launch in signature style - with bling, bling and even more bling. Although, it wasn't just shimmering frocks that had guests believing summer had made an early appearance in August. Staged at the brand's new store at Sydney's Ivy complex, the launch moved on to Ivy's spectacular bar area where guests partied into the wee hours of the morning. Pictured are Seduce designers Tammy Hetherington, Amber Baker and Cyia Levadetes and owners Judi and Peter Li (centre).

Frat party
American-inspired streetwear label Frat House launched its flagship Sydney store in style earlier this month with live female models mixing with half-naked muscle men in the shop window. Enthusiastic bystanders were also encouraged to get in on the act by way of a game of Twister with the models.

Crowing Carla
What better way to honour an industry veteran than over a sumptuous, two- hour lunch? Guests attending the Australian Fashion Laureate 2008 ceremony were treated to a two course meal at Sydney's Westin Hotel, watching as iconic womenswear designer Carla Zampatti was presented with the honorary title.
