NATIONAL: The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has issued a draft determination proposing to grant authorisation to department store Myer to enable it to continue including concession businesses in its various promotions.

While concession businesses - which license or rent floor space from Myer, creating their own "stores" within the department store - operated independently of Myer, the ACCC said allowing them to participate in Myer promotions would be advantageous to consumers.

"The ACCC considers that the arrangements will result in a significant public benefit in the form of reduced prices for consumers, by facilitating the participation of concession businesses in periodic sales and through the simplification of Myer promotions," ACCC chairman Graeme Samuel said.

The ACCC is also currently seeking submissions from interested parties in relation to the draft determination. For more information visit accc.gov.au.
