MELBOURNE: The organisers of Melbourne Spring Fashion Week (MSFW) - scheduled to take place from September 1 to 7 - have announced a 2008 line-up including a new 'face' and ambassador brand, designer parades from high recall Australian labels and a number of highlight festival events.
Native Melbournian turned international modelling identity Sally Graham has returned home to take up the role as the face of MSFW 2008, while directional local label Fat has been announced as the event's official ambassador.
Labels in this year's parades are: Anna Thomas, Cohen et Sabine, Fleur Wood, Ginger & Smart, Gorman, Mad Cortes, Dhini, Frisoni Finetti, Gail Sorronda, James Cameron, Jessie Hill, Leopold, Material Byproduct, Alpha 60, Antipodium, Life With Bird, Material Boy, Nom D, TV, Therese Rawsthorne, Aurelio Costarella, Christine, Jayson Brunsdon, Toni Maticevski, Nevenka, Nicola Finetti and White Suede.
MSFW program highlights include Eco Stylin' - a collection of locally made organic product at Melbourne Central shopping centre and the Gorman Organic Ship Shop; made from a used shipping container and constructed from recycled ply, the Ship Shop will dock in Melbourne's City Square throughout MSFW to showcase the best of Gorman Organic. Meanwhile Fat: Limited, In the Name of Art - will comprise an exhibition of Fat's favourite tee shirt graphics at GPO shopping centre on September 4.
