No place like home
Every designer worth their bathsalt has considered a venture into the homewares market - Italian ready-to-wear label Missoni has been capitalising on this sector since launching Missoni Home in 2004. To celebrate the release of its 2008 collection in Australia, founding partner Rosita Missoni (pictured with David Clark) flew down to Sydney for an evening of luxury at the Lumiere Penthouses. Missoni talked guests threw the latest colour-saturated range while they sipped on champagne and nibbled on savoury canapes.
Flavour of Italy
No Sydney Italian Festival would be complete without at least one runway show. Leading brands Armani Jeans, Versace and Just Cavalli showed why the country was at the top of its fashion game with a cracking spring/summer 2008 showcase at the Establishment. Guests enjoyed lashings of Peroni, prosecco and antipasti as models trumped up and down a makeshift runway. Pictured: FashionAssassin Alex Zabotto-Bentley and Heidi Virtue.
A spring Love Affair is born
Recent weeks saw emerging Melbourne label Love Affair celebrate its spring/summer 2009 foray into the fashion scene with a catwalk centred evening on May 30. Love Affair's 34-piece range was presented to over 300 VIP guests at South Melbourne hot spot the Star Bar amid a sea of colour, described by Love Affair designer Quin Tran as a signature of her look.
Inside out
Womenswear retailer Review Australia and underwear brand Jockey know the way to a successful women's heart. The clothing brands teamed together to stage a fashion showcase for Vecci - one of Melbourne's premium women's networking groups at Federation Square's Zinc restaurant recently. More than 200 women were treated to canapés and wine, before taking their seats to hear witty and inspirational tales from Jockey's Madelynne McArthur and Review's Lisa Infante on how to best dress from the inside out, while also gaining an understanding of how fashion and underwear can contribute to success and confidence in every business situation.
