SYDNEY: Seventh Wonderland has chosen the world's largest swimwear trade event to launch its debut spring/summer 2008/09 collection. The Sydney-based label will join established brands such as Zimmermann, Anna & Boy and Seafolly as part of the Australian contingent heading to Miami Swim.

Founders Bonnie Coumbe and Carlos Aviles said they were personally invited to the event by Miami Swim marketing director Julie Steen, who found the label's offering well suited for high-end buyers.

International department store giants Selfridges, Henri Bendel and American retailer Urban Outfitters will be among the 2000 buyers expected to attend the July event.

The spring/summer 2008/09 range takes its inspiration from both the art deco and disco era with custom-made prints, trims and streamlined shapes.

"The catalyst for this collection initiated when we discovered a beautiful diamond shaped, art deco pendant in a Parisian flea market," the founders explained in their debut look book.

"This pendant consisted of beautifully detailed resin inserts with a combination of textures in abstract triangular forms such as fans and chevrons, heavily influencing the hand designed prints and trims found throughout the collection."

Seventh Wonderland will be staging shows throughout the course of Miami Swim, which runs from July 19 to 22 at the Miami Convention Centre.
