AUCKLAND: New Zealand mannequin specialist Purform is set to shift its entire production base to India. The company has entered into a marketing, technical and manufacturing agreement with Dehli-based plastic moulding company OK Play India.

As part of the agreement OK Play would be responsible for manufacturing all Purform mannequins, including its entire export quota to over 60 countries.

Purform managing director Maurice Purdy said the move would also facilitate Purform's entry into the Indian market.

"India has close to 12 million retail outlets and one of the highest retail densities, where mannequins are a major demand. We decided to harness the vast potential that Indian retail, apparel and fashion market offers," he said.

Production of the new mannequins has already started in India, with OK Play launching around 25 models including full-length, three-quarter length and child-sized mannequins.

Purform did not comment on the number of redundancies expected as a result of the new venture.
