Spoof fashion show staged
SYDNEY: The fashion industry's most vocal detractors would claim all fashion shows are a waste of time. However, The Catholic World Youth Day protest group NoToPope has taken the concept one step further by staging what it called an "annoying fashion show" outside New South Wales Parliament yesterday (July 9).
Under the special regulations brought in for World Youth Day events, state police have the power to arrest and fine people who annoy or inconvenience pilgrims attending the festivities.
In an attempt to show their anger towards the move, the protest group held a spoof catwalk fashion show parading T-shirts - complete with slogans and messages - that they planned to protest in.
According to an online report on ABC News, around 20 people gathered outside Parliament parading T-shirts emblazoned with messages ranging from 'Pope is wrong, use a condom' to 'Pope go homo'.
