SYDNEY: A market stall operator charged with harbouring over $5 million worth of counterfeit apparel was refused bail in court yesterday (July 7) following concerns he could flee overseas. Hurstville resident Di Fu Huang appeared in Parramatta Bail Court after police discovered 1635 counterfeit goods worth an estimated $180, 000 at his Fairfield market stall on Saturday afternoon.

This was followed by a raid on Huang's Lakemba warehouse, where another 5266 garments with a value of $5 million were seized.

The forty-year-old man, who had previously served a custodial sentence for selling fake designer goods such as Ralph Lauren and Chanel, faced six counts of breaching the Trade Marks Act.

Magistrate Christopher Mahoney refused bail after prosecutors argued he was a flight risk, holding both Australian and Chinese passports. Huang will appear before Fairfield Local Court today.
