MELBOURNE: Heritage sportswear brand Lacoste has stitched together a multi-million dollar corporate sponsorship deal with organisers of the Australian Open. Tennis Australia has confirmed the French apparel company will join luxury watch brand Rolex and sports giant Nike as an official supplier, ahead of the Melbourne Park grand slam in January.

It is believed the deal will include over 1000 uniforms and apparel for officials, linespeople and "ballkids".

The deal follows twelve months of intensive campaigning by Lacoste in Australia, with the company launching two Melbourne concept stores in October and a flagship site in Sydney in March 2007.

The brand also recently announced it would release its limited-edition 75th anniversary collection across the country over July and August 2008. The capsule range includes contemporary clothing, bags, footwear, watches and eyewear stamped with the original logo.
