SYDNEY: Bracewell has appointed a new head designer. English national Hailey Killigrew, who previously worked for Jigsaw Australia, has moved across to the Surry Hills headquartered womenswear brand with a view to infusing it with her "feminine but quirky" aesthetic, as a spokesperson for the brand confirmed.

"Her love of all things hand made, beautifully organic objects or simple fun pieces that make you feel happy and free will no doubt be [seen] in the new designer's ranges."

Killigrew - who previously designed for UK high street brands including River Island, Oasis and Top Shop - said she looked forward to her new role.

"I've been given this great opportunity to showcase my best work as a designer," she said. "I hope to capture the real essence of Bracewell while at the same time remaining true to my design ethics.”

With her inaugural collection for Bracewell to be released for winter 09, Killigrew confirmed she intended to use Australian fabrics and manufacture locally where possible.

Bracewell operates six stores across Australia including four in Sydney: at Paddington, Bondi Junction, Chatswood and Market City and two in Melbourne: at South Yarra and Chadstone. The brand is also stocked in more than 200 independent retailers nationally, as well as in New Zealand, Korea, Malaysia and Singapore.
