NATIONAL: Leading Australasian menswear manufacturer Rembrandt has forged an exclusive alliance with a renowned heritage fabric merchant. Based in Peebles, Scotland, Holland & Sherry was an authority on rare and exotic fibres and the partnership would allow Rembrandt - one of Australasia’s oldest family owned menswear companies - sole rights to the cloths, a Rembrandt spokesperson said.
"In a trend known as 'mass-clusivity' people the world over are going to special efforts to stand out from the crowd. Rembrandt’s customer base has been quick to take advantage of exclusive fabrics."
Rembrandt customers had already shown they were prepared to invest in more luxurious fabrics, with prices of $3000 and upwards not unheard of for a suit in one of their finest cloths.
Raising the bar further, Holland & Sherry could also weave an owner’s name or chosen phrase subtly into the pin stripe of a suit, while gold or platinum thread could be included in the weaves of the most sumptuous styles, which often topped $10,000 per suit.
"Being well dressed doesn’t have to cost that many zeros but being spectacularly well dressed sometimes can."
