Australian womenswear designer Bettina Liano has joined national retailers in their early winter sales blitz – albeit, for entirely different reasons. As reported on Ragtrader Online earlier this week, tough economic conditions have forced many retailers into pre-season discounting with department store Myer, boutique chain Tuchuzy and designer Wayne Cooper joining in on the sales race.
However, Liano claimed her flagship site in The Strand, which kicked off its autumn/winter sale on Tuesday, was discounting stock in the lead up to a three week refurbishment program.
The new-look store is expected to launch in early August, just in time for the inaugural Rosemount Sydney Fashion Festival. Liano confirmed it would be refurbished by leading interior design specialist David Hicks.
“It’s all about meeting customer needs and expectations - and then exceeding them, without compromising on quality or attention to detail” she said. “I encourage other retailers to follow suit and create an internationally recognised shopping destination.”
