Earth celebrates eco award

SYDNEY: Global ethical fashion brand The Earth Collection is believed to have become the first Chinese-manufactured company to be recognised by a leading European environmental group.

The brand, which operates six concept stores across Australia, was awarded the coveted EU Flower for its commitment to the environment, by guaranteeing a limiteed use of substances harmful to the environment, as well as reduced water and air pollution and minimal textile shrink and colour resistance.

The Earth Collection won EU Flower status for a range of garments made from its signature 100 per cent cotton herringbone weave fabrics.

Specialising in "ethically sourced" clothing, The Earth Collection was launched in 1993 with a limited range of eco-friendly T-shirts. Since then it has grown significantly and now supplies boutiques across the globe including Australia.

The company operates three stores in New South Wales, two in Queensland and one in Western Australia.
