Colette Garnsey shields her nostrils at the Silence is Golden runway show at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week. The group general manager of apparel, cosmetics and marketing gasped for breath as the brand unleased its fragrant smoke machine.

"What we're saying is: 'Don't whinge about how tough these issues are; it's up to you to get off your butts and do something'."


The gloves are off as far as Jo Kellock, head of the Council of Textile and Fashion Industries of Australia (TFIA), is concerned.

"Our T-shirts are cut to fit and flatter the body so our customers don't have to pluck and tweeze [their] way into looking good."


Unnaked founder Andy McIntyre explains the catchphrase of his recently launched label: 'Look better Unnaked".

"Sales are made in the showroom not on the runway."


Designer Ben Smith outlines why he opted for a boutique showroom rather than the catwalk during the recent Rosemount Australian Fashion Week.

"As an organisation that proudly supports Melbourne fashion, we must look for ways to expand the industry's present status and push the boundaries of design. In this case we have done so in the hope of limiting the environmental damage perpetuated by the industry."  


Cindee Smith, head of the Melbourne Fashion Incubator, explains why the organisation's first branded product had to be green.
