SYDNEY: Raffles College of Design graduate Allison Berger is one of several former students whose work has been selected to appear in a special display at Sydney's Powerhouse Museum.

Aiming to illustrate the diversity of ideas, techniques and talents among Australia's next generation of fashion designers, Berger has been asked to supply two outfits from her final year range as part of the museum's annual 'Student Fashion Display'.

Accompanying each student’s outfits is a display that details the creative process behind the designs from concept to fruition, including design drawings, fabrications and photographs.

Raffles head of fashion Rober de Giovanni said Berger's work had been chosen because it demonstrated "oustanding" levels of cultural and design research.

"The Australian fashion industry, although every well respected globally, is notoriously difficult to get into. For Allison, this display is great exposure and will be formative for her future career."

Since 1993, the Powerhouse Museum has been providing a glimpse of Australia’s up and coming fashion designers through the annual Student Fashion display.

Past exhibitors who have gone on to greater success include Toni Maticevski, Michelle Jank, Rebecca Dawson and Anthony Kendal.

The display will be open to the public on May 31 and runs until September 14.
