Hoping for an Australian Triumph
BRISBANE: Lingerie specialist Triumph International has created a global design competition open to design students from all around the world.
The Triumph Inspiration Award encourages fashion design students from 32 different countries to design and produce a brand and brief set following a particular theme. The design theme for the inaugural competition focuses on "female fascination".
Triumph International (Australia) public relations manager Phillipa Nina said the winner of each national competition automatically applies for the international final to be held in Beijing, China on July 31. The winning entry will have their showpiece produced and sold as a special limited edition piece, complete with the winner's name and school name and sold in the brand's stores worldwide.
He or she will also win a cash prize of Euro 15,000 ($A24,400) with a prize of Euro 10,000 ($A16,000) and Euro 5,000 ($A8100) for the second and third place winners respectively.
Colleges involved include Central Saint Martin College in London, ESMOD International Fashion Schools in Munich and Oslo as well as Australian colleges the Metropolitan South Institute of TAFE and Queensland University of Technology.
The Australian winner will be announced during a special event in Brisbane on May 29.
